The first 20 year old Swedish whisky. The very first vask filled for the Mackmyra Reserve program in 2002 was a 200 litre ex-bourbon cask, which now is bottled as a 20 year old single cask. Notes according to Mackmyra: Nose: The aroma is characterized by malt tones, old-fashioned vanilla ice cream, and ripe pears. Behind these sweet notes, there are hints of arrack and spicy citrus. After a while in the glass, the vanilla becomes more prominent, but honey notes are also present. Taste: A deep fruitiness with pears, apples, and oranges. Distinct notes of liquorice and pepper also find their place in the mouth. At the back, bitter tones from the oak cask are reminiscent of grapefruit, which also contribute to a dry and warming mouthfeel. Sweetness is primarily represented by vanilla and chocolate notes. Finish: The finish is medium-length with clear fruity sweetness, mild black pepper, and subtle bitter grapefruit notes. Liquorice and leather emerge late in the finish, along with the oak cask influences.
