This is one of just a few independent bottlings of Nordic whisky so far. This particular release is exclusive to the Belgian market. It is exclusive in number of bottles as well, at just 40 bottles!
The Mackmyra 2007 10 Years The Nectar – Cask 4800-B was matured in a 30 litre 1st fill Oloroso sherry cask. It was launched on 2016-11-05.
Nose: Cool and restrained. Dried fruits, vanilla and a touch of alcohol. Furniture polish and fruity leather (?!). Dark chocolate and cacao nibs. A little dusty, perhaps.
Taste: Medium body and medium sweet mouthfeel. Caramel sauce mixed with white pepper. A pinch of ginger and nutmeg.
Finish: Fairly short finish. Drying out a bit. The dark chocolate from the nose makes an appearance, matching the pepper notes very well. Pleasant finish even if a bit too short.
Comments: A feel-good dram to pick you up. Maybe not for the moments of deep reflection, but sometimes you just want to relax and take it easy.
Score: (83/100)
