A whisky with clear influence from the Jaktvin (hunting wine) from Grythyttan. Mackmyra always saturate the casks for 2 months before filling them with whisky. The wine barrel matured whisky comes from four different batches, the oldest with 4 years on bourbon cask and 10 years on wine cask, and the youngest with 1 year finish. The batches are from 2014, 2016 and 2018. There is also almost 1% smoky whisky in the mix. These are the types of casks used: • Saturated American Oak, 30-100 L • Saturated Swedish Oak, 30-100 L • Saturated Ex-Bourbon, 30-100 L • New and 1st fill American Oak, 128 L • New and 1st fill Oloroso, 128-200 L 790 of the 1500 bottles went on sale in the UK. Notes according to Mackmyra: Nose: Spicy with warm fruity grape tones and notes of herbs. Soft vanilla oak with aromas of anise, ginger, raisins, pear caramel and vanilla. Taste: Soft fruity and spicy with berries and dried fruit. Pear, raisins, ginger and vanilla. The texture is creamy and medium-bodied. Finish: Berry, fruity, spicy and oaky with warm notes of raisins |
