I have recently worked my way through all the releases in the Special Series from Mackmyra. Time now to do some homework on older releases in the Moment Series from Mackmyra. This is a series that is still ongoing, and has seen 19 releases so far. To catch up on all my reviews of whiskies from Mackmyra, have a look here.
The Mackmyra Moment Urberg was the second release in this series. It was distilled in September 2003, matured in 250 litre hogsheads, and bottled in December 2010. This release was limited to 1291 bottles.
The Mackmyra moment Urberg is sold out, but you may find a stray bottle or two online, at around € 130.
Nose: Marshmallows with a touch of ashes (positive note, people!), vanilla, dark chocolate, dark caramel and apple jelly.
Taste: Rich and slightly rough mouthfeel. Lots of spices and oak.
Finish: Relatively short finish. Lots of oak, white pepper and malt. A touch of herbs and ginger.
Comments: This dram cannot hide its young age. It has a lot of character though, it’s just a little all over the place. A very decent dram all the same!
